A Christian Community on Lonsdale
with a Lusitanic Heritage
and a Biblical Legacy
CBP began reaching out to the Lusitanic -- Portuguese-speaking people -- in 1976. Portuguese-speaking peoples come from Portugal (including the Azores), Cape Verde, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé & Príncipe, Goa (in India), Macau (in China) and East Timor.
CBP's legacy is from the so-called Christian Brethren movement. This is a movement which began in the UK and became well-known through a large church in Plymouth, England. In many ways, this movement was the precursor to the modern Evangelical movement, restoring to the Christian body such truthes as literal interpretation of Scripture, Dispensationalism, ardent study of Scripture by each individual, independent churches, plurality and accountability of church leadership and consistently participatory members, among many others.
Ministering to the entire southern New England tri-state region, CBP has been at the forefront of touching Portuguese-speaking peoples' lives like no other Evangelical church in the region has been able to. After 25 years of serving only the Portuguese-speaking, CBP opened its doors to the English-speaking. For more about CBP, click on "
