A Quick Explanation: CBP - A Christian Community on Lonsdale
We are using, as a sub-line, the expression "community" only because it describes us and defines what we pray we will always be. The word "fellowship" has no meaning to most of the urban target-group we minister to, and the word "family" is really reserved for blood-ties in the Lusitanic cultures.
A few have mentioned that some churches using the word "community" in their name are theologically loose or even liberal. Of that we do not know, nor have we given the time to research it, as we are not concerned with labels. By using this simple word, we are not trying to label ourselves as more conservative or less conservative. We merely wish to describe who we are and hope to be.
The first-century church was a close-knit community. We believe that is our Lord's goal for His Church (among other goals) that we extend brotherly love to one another strongly, and we are praying for His grace to grant us the fellowship and family-like spirit similar to the first-century church. We believe that with sound doctrine, regular remembrance of our Savior, prayer and strong Christian "community," the Lord will bless us as He blessed that very first assembly of Christians in Acts 2:42.
